Annual Flea Market / Auction

Now over a quarter century old, the Abbott Flea Market/Auction is an annual event which takes place each spring. In years past the Flea Market has been held in the Grade School in the morning and the auction in the Abbott Showroom in the Afternoon. Starting in 2008 both will be held in the grade school and the bidding card is free! Beginning at 9 am the Flea Market is open and every hour on the hour will be a 15 minute auction up to 2 pm and then the rest of the auction will take place. A limited number of Flea Market tables are available for $25.00 each. (One table only please). This will allow you to also put 3 items in the auction. Tables sell out early and the Abbott showroom will be open during the day for regular business.

Family Fun Flea Market

	What About The Kids? The first flea market I attended I left the kids at the hotel with their mom, what a mistake. Right across the street from the Elementary school (which host's the flea market and dealers show) is a wonderful play area for kids of all ages. In addition you will find picnic tables so you can have a outdoor brunch with your family, then spend a little time at the flea market while the family relaxes at the playground. If the weather is bad, you can still enjoy the outdoors with your family at the Colon Community Park which has a huge pavilion area with many picnic tables and also public rest rooms.

Petting Zoo to the West This year I got wise and realized that there is alot going on in the area besides the Flea Market, so my family made a mini vacation out of the day. After a couple hours at the Flea Market and Auction we drove about 10 miles West to Nottawa where there is a petting zoo at the Nottawa Fruit Farm. Our son had a blast petting the farm animals and deers and we were back in time for the next auction at the Flea Market! Theres sure to be other fun events going on in the area during the Flea Market so please don't be afraid to bring the family, they'll enjoy the hospitality of Colon and have a wonderful time.

Duke Stern said Colon is not a one horse town...
